Mueller Navelet jets, jet gap jets and anomalous WWγγWW\gamma \gamma couplings in γ\gamma-induced processes at the LHC

We describe two different important measurements to be performed at the LHC. The Mueller Navelet jet and jet gap jet cross section represent a test of BFKL dynamics and we perform a NLL calculation of these processes and compare it with recent Tevatron measurements. The study of the WWγγWW\gamma \gamma couplings at the LHC using the forward detectors proposed in the ATLAS Forward Physics project as an example allows to probe higgsless and extradimension models via anomalous quartic couplings since the reach is improved by four orders of magnitude with respect to the LEP results.Comment: Proceedings of the Forward Physics at LHC Workshop, Elba Island, Italy, May 27-29 201

Diffraction at HERA, Tevatron and LHC

In this short review, we describe some of the results on diffraction from the Tevatron and give some prospects for the LHC. In particular, we discuss the search for exclusive events at the Tevatron and their importance for the LHC program/ We finish by presenting the project of installing forward detectors in the ATLAS collaboration at 220 and 420 m.Comment: Contribution to the proceedings of the Cracow epiphany conference on hadron interactions at the dawn of the LHC in honour of Prof. Jan Kwiecinski, 5-7 January 2009, Craco

Forward physics with tagged protons at the LHC: QCD and anomalous couplings

We present some physics topics that can be studied at the LHC using proton tagging. We distinguish the QCD (Pomeron structure, BFKL analysis...) from the exploratory physics topics (HIggs boson, anomalous couplings between photons and W/ZW/Z bosonsComment: Proceedings of the Low x 2013 workshop, May 30 - June 4 2013, Rehovot and Eilat, Israe

We give a short description of the project to install roman pot detectors at 220 m from the interaction point in ATLAS. This project is dedicated to hard diffractive measurements at high luminosity.Comment: Proceedings for the DIS 2007 workshop, Munich, April 200

A phenomenological study of BFKL evolution

The QCD dipole picture allows to build an unified theoretical description -based on BFKL dynamics- of the total and diffractive nucleon structure functions measured at HERA. We use a four parameter fit to describe the 1994 H1 proton structure function F2F_{2} data in the low x, moderate Q2Q^{2} range. The diffractive dissociation processes are discussed within the same framework, and a 6 parameter fit of the 1994 H1 diffractive structure function data is performed. The BFKL dynamics can also be successfully tested at the e+e−e^+e^- collider LEP and a future high energy linear collider. The total γ∗γ∗\gamma^*\gamma^* cross-section is calculated in the Leading Order QCD dipole picture of BFKL dynamics, and compared with the one from 2-gluon exchange. Next to Leading order corrections to the BFKL evolution have been determined phenomenologically, and are found to give very large corrections to the BFKL cross-section, leading to a reduced sensitivity for observing BFKL effects. The Y dependence of the cross-section remains a powerful tool to increase the ratio between the BFKL and the 2-gluon cross-sections and is more sensitive to BFKL effects, even in the presence of large higher order corrections.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, Invited talk given at the Hadron 13 Conference, Mumbai, 13-20 January 199
